The carryover pool for the Rainbow 6 at Gulfstream Park is MASSIVE and there should be another healthy amount bet into the pool today. A nice group of graded stakes races makes this an interesting sequence. I’ll play two tickets that total $81.60 and hope one of them cashes. The key for me in the sequence on my “A” ticket will be Bill Mott – Emollient in the first leg, the Gulfstream Park Oaks, and Cigar Street in the third leg, the Skip Away Stakes.

Race 8, first leg – Gulfstream Park Oaks

I think Live Lively and Dreaming of Julia will each be up on the lead, and I’m sure either of them really wants to go this far. Emollient has wonderful breeding and has shown ability in her brief racing career. Not only should she get an ideal trip and take advantage of the pace up front, but she carries six less pounds than her main rivals. She’s a single on the “A” ticket.

Race 9, second leg – Orchid Stakes

Starformer is the prevailing speed, but I think she does her best running over turf courses with some give – the turf in South Florida right now is rock solid. Irish Mission should be sitting on a big effort. Second off the layoff, Johnny V. stays aboard…all systems go. I’ll use Anjaz, Starformer, Irish Mission, Aigue Marine and Angegreen on the “A”.

Race 10, third leg – Skip Away Stakes

Cigar Street looks to be the most talented in the field…add in the fact that he should be LOOSEONTHELEAD, and that’s a recipe for disaster for the rest of the field. He’s a single.

Race 11, fourth leg – Appleton Stakes

This race could literally go to 3/4 of the field – completely wide open. Seems like there’s a decent amount of speed…I like Cool Blue Red Hot coming off his first career start on the turf. I’ll spread deep in this one, though.

Race 12, fifth leg – Florida Derby

Realistically, I don’t think Shanghai Bobby wants to go this far. I question whether Itsmyluckyday wants to go this far. I KNOW Orb wants to go this far, if not farther. He’s the selection, but I’ll use the “Big 3” plus Pick of the Litter.

Race 13, sixth leg – Allowance

Tough race to wrap things up…I like Bodacious Barb in this spot, but I’ll spread pretty deep on the “A”.
