How awesome is Caixa Eletronica? In the first start of his – wait for it – EIGHT YEAR OLD campaign, he easily won the $75,000 Uncle Mo Stakes contested at six furlongs at Aqueduct by 2 3/4 lengths. Horses like this just don’t seem to come around all that often anymore. He’s definitely not the sexiest name that the combination of owner Mike Repole and trainer Todd Pletcher have ever had, but he has to be one of the most respected. In a day and age of racing where strong horses generally don’t run past their four year old season, Caixa Eletronica has continued to be a formidable foe on the racetrack year in and year out. He’s probably a cut or two below the top handicap horses in the country, but how many thoroughbreds can run in races that are anywhere between six and nine furlongs in distance and have a realistic chance to perform well in all of them? It takes a rare specimen to be able to adapt to so many different styles of racing, and this horse fits the bill. A proper blue collar worker that goes out and gives an honest day’s effort each and every time he’s asked. If you’re a true fan of racing, what else could you ask for in a race horse? Without question, my favorite horse in training is Caixa Eletronica.
